No, no, don't worry - no bad changes! Let me catch you up with what's been going on.
Sadly, the last six weeks of my family life have been extremely stressful and upsetting, as three family members developed COVID-19 just before Christmas and were very ill. One, in fact, was in hospital on a ventilator for 36 days. She was expected to pass away, but defied the odds and has begun to recover.
Great news for the family - but it's been a horrific six weeks, as all of us are in lockdown (and have been for almost a year) as we have pre-existing conditions that mean a dose of COVID would most likely be deadly. We've only been able to offer comfort and support to worried and grieving family members, who were also ill with COVID, online and on the phone - an ineffective way to comfort anyone.
Let's just say I didn't get much writing done - and I haven't updated or posted to the blog since before all this drama began.
It's time to get back to book writing and keeping the blog more updated. Also, there's a change coming.
I will be moving The Eirdon Books website to another provider and format over the next few months. When I started the website, the direction of my current website platform was excellent for my purposes, but over time, it moved in another direction. Nothing negative - just irreconcilable differences. I've found a platform that will give me a lot more flexibility in the direction I want to go.
The move will take some time, as I work at my fulltime day job from home and continue writing away on the fourth and last book of The Prophecy Series, The Light At The Top Of The World. This is a long-cherished wish - to finish "The Big Four" as I call those doorstop-sized books! Once I'm done with that massive, multi-branched story arc, I plan to begin small series of much shorter works, delving further into the lives of some of the predominant characters featured in the Eirdon Books.
I'm hoping to make the new website more interactive and something I can update more easily and often. I'm anticipating new and improved graphics, more interaction for readers and a simplified platform that will make updates and upgrades less cumbersome and time-consuming.
So, there we are. I will let you know when the new website is up and running.
I also anticipate moving the addresses of the people who have subscribed here to a newsletter platform. I find sending out notices through the website cumbersome. I will be switching over to a platform dedicated to emailing, and will have to obtain permission to move your email addresses to that platform from each of you. I'm hoping everyone will be willing to come along when the time comes! This is not imminent, so don't fret. As always, your privacy and the security of your email address will be my first priority - one of the reasons why I'm going to be making this move. It will also be a simpler matter to keep everyone updated on what is going on, when to expect new book releases, etc.
Lastly, I wanted to put my Facebook links up - I keep a fairly lively author's page on Facebook, which is updated far more often than the website. I put snippets of writing up there, sometimes brand-new things that I write to accompany an image. I try to post a few times a week, if not every day. You might want to join us there, if you haven't already!

This is a difficult time in history, and certainly one of the most stressful in my lifetime of 60+ years. There is nothing more worrisome than an uncertain situation with no clear ending in sight. I wish you all the very best. Stay safe and healthy!
